Overseas profits are obtained whenever any country in the game buys resources from developed land you own in another country. These resources are offered for trade every turn automatically. Of course, you receive no profit at all if nobody wants to purchase these commodities.
This problem can be dealt with if you bid on the commodities yourself. This is why it’s a good idea to develop products you are actually interested in buying. When you buy commodities you have developed you may be surprised to see an offer sheet listing the full price of the commodity. That’s okay. The offer sheet does not include the overseas profits involved.
